Boarding activities on a Sunday
Hi my name is Hope Lilley and I have been fully boarding for four years now. I am a boarding prefect alongside Pablo and Angus. We really are like a family; the older always look after the youngers, like you would at home. I am just going to tell you about what we do on sundays.
On a Sunday morning we get up at 8;30, one whole hour later than a school day! We go down to breakfast at 9 and we all wait for each other to finish. We have free time until 10 when we go to buy tuck. Miss Lupton our matron kindly sorts out our pocket money. We all enjoy going there!
After we get back we have free outside play until lunch. During that time we all usally go outside and play we all play together! During lunch we all say the grace and eat together.
In the afternoon we have some time to eat our tuck and use our phones and tablets. We also do something as our main activity, we went to the bottom pitches to collect blackberries to make jam, which was really fun. Some of the older boarders had some of the younger ones on our shoulders.
We also have been to big rock climbing centre we loved climbing with everyone. If we got to the top of the hardest rope Mr Owens promised a chocolate bar; he thought no one would get to the top but both of the Oates twins got to the top.
We did some marshmallow cooking over the fires on Sunday with Miss Cox we all had some marshmallows! Another great Sunday.
Boarding life

My name is Koty  and I am a weekly boarder at Swanbourne House. I am also head of girls' boarding alongside Simon who is head of boys' boarding. With head of boarding it's really fun; I get to help out the juniors with making beds or homework and sometimes they read to me during the evening.  When I get up I make sure all the juniors are ready for breakfast and their dorms are tidy. I really love boarding because this is my second home and we really are all one family. Mr and Mrs Owens have made boarding a delight and they are really nice because they let the top year come into to their home to watch X factor and the rugby world cup. We all love our gap students. They make boarding what it is, they organise really fun activities for us in the evenings and there is always fun whether it is skipping , rugby or stealth in the woods. Boarding, in my opinion makes Swanbourne what it is. School just wouldn’t be as fun without boarding thank you Mr and Mrs owens.

Both Mrs Owens and I have been delighted at the way the boarders have settled into the new academic year. Both new pupils and new staff have added great value to the house with their efforts and enthusiasm and we are delighted to announce the great health of boarding at Swanbourne House. Over 30 children board as either a full or weekly boarder this year and over 70 pupils board on every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night. Over the coming days children will be posting some of their best moments so far and documentation their aspirations for the house this year.

Once again, thank-you to all that have welcomed us into the house with open arms. Mr Owens.

Welcome to the new and improved Swanbourne House Boarding blog! Posts and photos coming shortly.
